Annual Celebration of Life Dinner

The 6th Annual Celebration Of Life Dinner will be held on November 6, 2010. We are looking forward to a fun and warm (not temperature) evening where we can meet, greet, be brought current on the Foundation's activities, and enjoy a fine dinner, entertainment, and each other's company. It is an informal event, because Gabe was a relaxed and unceremonious young man. If you want an invitation, please email us at info@gabesfoundation.org. If you want to respond to the invitation electronically, please utilize the PayPal function under "on-line" under "Contribution" and email us that it is for the dinner, with all your contact information and the name(s) of any guests.

The Gabe W. Miller Memorial Foundation has only one fund raising event, the Annual Celebration of Life Dinner, held on a Saturday night before Thanksgiving each year.

The 1st Dinner was held at Lou Malnati’s in Buffalo Grove, because pizza and pasta were among Gabe’s favorite “food groups”. Mentalist, Sidney Friedman, wowed the crowd with his amazing acts of ESP and mental agility.

The 2nd Dinner, held at Ristorante Bella Via, also had pizza on the menu and featured entertainment by a Chicago-land favorite, the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band.

The 3rd Dinner was held at Carmen's Restaurant in Evanston. The featured entertainer, Dennis DeBondt, magician / humorist par excellence, wowed the crowd. The camaraderie was joyous and heartfelt.

The 4th Dinner was held at The Birchwood Club in Highland Park.  The featured entertainers were Sarah Hibbard, soprano, Steve Cannon, tenor, and pianist Ken Smith.  Their popular opera arias and duets, followed by selections from My Fair Lady and "All I Ask Of You" from Phantom of the Opera, delighted the audience and turned a few "sports guys" into opera fans.

The 5th Annual Celebration Of Life Dinner was held at the Ravinia Green Country Club in Riverwoods, Illinois. The featured entertainment was Joel Chasnoff.

Notwithstanding the seriousness of purpose of the Foundation’s work, the goal of our Annual Event is to have a great time, to remember Gabe and to celebrate the special life that was his. He would not have wanted it any other way.

We evoke Gabe’s memory and the work of his namesake Foundation through Alan’s speech and videos, The Making Of A Caring Man, produced by the Foundation and shown at the 1st Dinner and Profiles In Service: How They Help Us - I , a video by Fulton Market Films and the Foundation, showcasing hospice and bereavement social workers, shown at the 2nd Dinner.  And, Profiles in Service: How They Help Us - II, how a social worker specializing in child/youth work uses rap music as a pathway to communication, also produced by Fulton Market Films and the Foundation, shown at the 3rd Annual Dinner, proved to be very interesting and entertaining.

If you are not already on our invitation list, please send your contact information to info@gabesfoundation.org, or go to Contact Us to receive your invitation.

We look forward to seeing you there!
