National Day of Service and Remembrance

The Gabe W. Miller Memorial Foundation designates one day each year as its National Day Of Service and Remembrancesm. This day is a means to pay tribute to Gabe and his efforts in the delivery of social services. When Gabe was taken from us so prematurely, the world lost a sensitive, creative, thoughtful person who was able to reach and help persons facing difficulties. By volunteering on the Day of Service, perhaps we can all contribute to society the way Gabe would be doing if he were still with us.

All present and future Friends Of Gabesm are encouraged to volunteer a day or part of a day to a local social service agency to do whatever it needs to have done. No money is involved. All we ask of you is that you think of Gabe while rendering your service.

Prior to the designated day, a list of contacts and cities is published if you wish to work in conjunction with a designated agency. If your city is not on the list or if you already have a relationship with a social service agency, then please make your own arrangements directly. For our records, please let us know where you will be volunteering. We would love any photos you can share from this experience and comments or feedback about the National Day of Service and Remembrance.

Consider bringing your family and friends along on your National Day Of Service and Remembrance to introduce them to Gabe’s Worksm , to role model for them how to “see the need and respond to it”sm and to allow them to engage in the satisfying work of helping others in need.

*Although all Friends Of Gabe are encouraged to participate, we are not recommending a “busman’s holiday” for those who are social service professionals the other 5 –6 days a week.

Save the date: the designated date for 2008 is August 24th. For further information about the National Day of Service and Rememberance in your locale or to sign up, please contact:
