Washington, D.C.-area supporters gleaned the Gene Lipman Acre Plus, located at the Am Kolel Sanctuary and Renewal Center in Beallsville, Maryland.
Continuing a tradition dating from Biblical times, participants gathered the unharvested produce, which was then donated to The Shepherd’s Table of Silver Springs, Maryland, the oldest, largest and most comprehensive social service provider in the county. Originally a 19th century farm, the 28 acres have been under the auspices of various religious orders since the 1950s. For information on The Shepherd’s Table, go to www.shepherdstable.org.
