Gabe died on January 26, 2005 leaving behind a legacy of kindness and good deeds. He was a person who, when he saw a human need, rushed to respond to it. Gabe made a difference.
Our purpose is to continue and enlarge upon Gabe's passions - to serve the disabled, disadvantaged and dispirited.
Our means is to raise money and distribute it to or for the benefit of individuals who have the capacity, as did Gabe, to serve these populations; that is social workers, social work students and the organizations that educate and support them. Our Advisory Committee reviews applicants and recommends recipients.
If the readers of this message have the constitutional make-up to render service personally to these persons, please DO so - start a career in social work or allied fields, start a second career in these pursuits or at least volunteer on a regular and frequent basis.
If you are not so enabled, then you can still incorporate these kinds of good deeds and kindnesses into your life through Gabe's Foundation.
This is the one memorial foundation that raises money from the public for distribution for the benefit of social work and social workers, without ethnic (Gabe would have insisted on this), geographic, university-specific and subject matter limitations. It is small enough to focus on not-yet-famous scholars and projects. And our directors and advisors are available to get to know you and help your effort to make a difference.
Please do not short your existing charitable donees or substitute Gabe's Foundation for one of them. Rather, add it to your list and/or dig deeper to help continue Gabe's work.
If one man could do such good, imagine how much we could do if we did it together. Please join with us to make a difference.
Please explore this website to find out more about Gabe, his work and what we can do to continue and expand it.
